FAQ

Q: Are your prices competitive ?
A: I am neither the cheapest nor the most expensive driving school currently offering lessons in Barnsley. What I do offer is a quality service with a clear pricing structure. I will not attempt to make you have unnecessary tuition, in order to recoup my losses which other 'cheap' schools do to make up the money they lost by offering 'cheap' starter packages. I will also not advise you to take your test unless your ready in order to obtain the 'test fee' from you.

Q: What discounts do you offer?
A: I offer a discount for block booking of 10 lessons.
Q: Are you a member of any professional organisations?
A: I am regulated by the Driving standards agency (DSA), and I am a member of the Driving Instructors Association (DIA).

Q: Will my instructor be fully qualified?
A: You will be taught by Nigel who is a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). This can be verified by my green coloured licence-ADI badge displayed in the bottom left corner of the windscreen. We also guarantee that you will always have the same driving instructor.

Q: How long are the lessons?
A: We offer 60, 90 and 120 minute lessons, but the decision on how long to have a lesson is your choice, guided by the advice given to you by your instructor, and how quickly you wish to progress to test level.

Q: How many lessons will I need?
A: The DSA recommend 35-40 hours of professional tuition, complemented by private practice. However this is only a guide and will depend on how quickly you progress, the duration and length of the lessons taken.

Q: How will my progress be monitored?
A: Your progress will be recorded on a progress sheet, at the end of the lesson, and the outcome discussed with you, along with any recommendations for further tuition etc..

Q: Do you only teach learners?
A: I offer tuition to learner drivers of all levels. I also offer refresher courses for qualified drivers, including , parking, and support for nervous drivers who may want to start driving again
I also offer pass plus to qualified drivers.

Q: Can I use your car for my practical test?
A: If you have taken a course of lessons with me then I will reserve the car for your exclusive use 1 hour before the test and during the test. Unfortunately at this time I am unable to offer my car for test to people who haven't undergone training with A Pass Ahead. Please note if you have booked your test against my advice and I do not think your drving ability is not yet at the standard for test I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO USE MY CAR. It is in the interest of safeguarding my car (which is my livelihood), the safety of the examiner, public safety and yourself.

Q: What type of car will I be driving?
A: A Pass Ahead Driving School uses a manual Ford Fiesta 1.3 petrol. It has been maintained/serviced by Polar Barnsley. It has air conditioning for your comfort in warm weather, and is equiped with dual controls.

Q: How can I pay for lessons?
A: Lessons can be paid for with cash and cheque. I also have gift vouchers available for purchase for any amount, which can be used against the cost of lessons. Please note all lessons must be paid for prior to lesson starting, non payment will result in no lesson. Unfortunately if a lesson cannot be paid for and it hasn't been cancelled then the fee will be payable at the next lesson
